The elder women likewise, that they be in such behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not subject to much wine, teachers of honest things. That they may instruct the young women to be sober-minded, that they love their husbands, that they love their children, temperate, chaste, keeping at home, good, and subject unto their husbands, that the word of God be not evil spoken of." Titus 2:3-5 These verses are weighing heavily upon my heart this morning. We live in a time of such confusion and chaos, right is wrong and wrong is being hailed as right. It is heartbreaking to see. Looking back over my life I became so thankful for the women I have had in my life to teach me through the years that have made me the woman I am today. I just want to say, "Thank You!" I know I must not have always been the easiest of students...lol, but I am thankful. If not for all of you...I know I wouldn't be where I am today. Mom, Thank you for your example of endurance and the love for God's Word that has been seared into my life. I am forever grateful. Thank you also for all your patience with me, I know that wasn't easy. lol Teresa White, You taught me kindness and gentleness. A trait I always admire and look up to in you. You gave me much more than that and I am always forever grateful. My Aunts, thank you for your example of godliness and perseverance. I love you. My Grandmother's love for the Word and how it has passed into the lives of me and my children. This list could go on and on...I am so thankful and will try and continue to live my life in such a way that would glorify God and make these women proud. As Women Finding Grace ~ Let's not forget to look around at those in our lives who have sacrificed and given and been the godly example to us and be thankful....
Love to all today, and God Bless, Debbie

"That by two immutable things, wherein it is impossible that God should lie, we might have strong consolation, which have our refuge to lay hold upon that hope that is set before us, Which hope we have as anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and it entereth into that which is within the veil." Hebrews 6:18-19 ...An Anchor of the soul... Recently my husband preached from Psalm 91 ~ "Who so dwelleth in the secret of the most High shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say unto the Lord, O my hope, and my fortress: he is my God, in Him will I trust." Psalm 91:1-2 The benefits and promises found in this chapter are not to those who do not dwell...those who wander and do no commit themselves to dwell in the secret place of the most High. This secret place is a 'covering' ~ a choice to be under the Almighty, in His ways and seeking to stay there. Rev. Charles Spurgeon: "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. It is not every worshipper that comes there who shall be thus privileged, but those who dwell there, as Simeon and Anna dwelt in the Temple. So there are some that abide in Christ and His Words abide in them. They live near God. They receive, therefore, choicer favors than those who do but come and go. “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High.” He who has learned to stand in the Holy of Holies, near the blood-sprinkled Mercy Seat, to whom prayer is a matter of constant privilege and enjoyment—he dwells in the secret place! Such a man, living near to God, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. You know when you walk with a friend in certain positions of the sun, your friend’s shadow falls upon you, but you cannot expect to have the shadow of your friend unless you are near him. We read in the Song, “I sat down under His shadow with great delight.” There must be nearness to get under the shadow! So there must be great access to God—great familiarity with Him—there must be something of the assurance of faith before we shall be able to grip such a word as that which follows in this Psalm. Read it again and if you have not attained to it, labor after it!" If we are to receive the hope that Anchors our soul to the Almighty ~ that which is within the veil ~ we must dwell under His shadow. This is all about choices in our daily walk, from the smallest to the largest. Learning to make our choices from the wisdom which is from above, (James 3:17-18). Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding." We cannot lean and walk in our own understanding and expect to dwell under the shadow of the Almighty. If we are leaning unto our own understanding, we are not walking uprightly or dwelling under His shadow. We have a safe place to dwell ~ an Anchor for our soul ~ within the veil, under His shadow ~ and the benefits and promises are found there. "I will say unto the Lord, O my hope, and my fortress: He is my God, in Him will I trust." Psalm 91:2 Psalm 42:11 and Psalm 43:5 "Why are thou cast down, my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? wait on God: for I will yet give Him thanks: He is my present help and my God." As Women Finding Grace ~ Let's find that safe place under His shadow...and dwell there.
Today's devotion from "My Utmost for His Highest" was too good not to share. I highly recommend getting the app if you have a smartphone. It has been such a blessing. The Never-forsaking God He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." --Hebrews 13:5 What line of thinking do my thoughts take? Do I turn to what God says or to my own fears? Am I simply repeating what God says, or am I learning to truly hear Him and then to respond after I have heard what He says? “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’ ” (Hebrews 13:5-6). “I will never leave you…”— not for any reason; not my sin, selfishness, stubbornness, nor waywardness. Have I really let God say to me that He will never leave me? If I have not truly heard this assurance of God, then let me listen again. “I will never…forsake you.” Sometimes it is not the difficulty of life but the drudgery of it that makes me think God will forsake me. When there is no major difficulty to overcome, no vision from God, nothing wonderful or beautiful— just the everyday activities of life— do I hear God’s assurance even in these? We have the idea that God is going to do some exceptional thing— that He is preparing and equipping us for some extraordinary work in the future. But as we grow in His grace we find that God is glorifying Himself here and now, at this very moment. If we have God’s assurance behind us, the most amazing strength becomes ours, and we learn to sing, glorifying Him even in the ordinary days and ways of life. As Women Finding Grace ~ We can never forget God's promise that He will never leave us or forsake us.
