Isaiah 55:6-8 6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found: call ye upon him while he is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake his ways, and the unrighteous his own imaginations, and return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he is very ready to forgive. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts. Life brought many challenges this past year, as I know it must have for so many. As a family, we made a pact to get through the holidays and try to focus on joy and gratefulness. The sum of 2016 ~ Life can be very hard, but God is real. Proverbs 3:5-7 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own wisdom. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy ways. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: but fear the Lord, and depart from evil. How do we trust, especially after feeling like receiving one life blow after another? The answer is found in these verses. Isaiah 55:6-8 tells us how much higher God's thoughts and ways are above our own and if we really believe this we will find Him, even in our difficulties. As we shift our focus from this earthly arena and look to Him ~ we can find perfect peace in the midst of trials. It is very obvious that the enemy of our soul is working feverishly in this world to destroy any defining lines of the truth of God's word and His promises. It is a battle and it is real. We must pick up our armor and fight ~ or be detroyed. One of the main battlegrounds is the battle for our thoughts... Unless we intentionally take God at His word and trust Him we are prime targets for the enemy to come in and take ground in our lives, and he will. Our walk with God must be intentional ~ on purpose. I have found the leading of the Lord to sometimes be very confusing to my own understanding. It's a good thing we have the promise of Proverbs 3:5-7 to lean upon. If we cannot seek the Lord and trust His guidance we will find ourselves in a place of confusion, doubt, and fear... maybe even anger and bitterness. But, if we truly rely upon His word and His guidance there is peace and security. His ways are past our ways. How foolish it is that we even consider the thought of trusting our own thoughts and ways above the God of the Universe ~ Jehovah-jireh "The Lord will provide". Is He your Jehovah-jireh? Is there any area of life where you need Him as your provider? Seek Him in this area and then trust that He hears, and be willing to follow His leading, no matter how the answer looks. We must stop "leaning" to our own understanding and trust God more than we trust ourselves. His ways are so much higher and His thoughts are so perfect. Let's trust Him in everything, even in the battles of life. If He has chosen to allow these hardships in life then I trust that He has purpose in these disciplines and I will take from His hand and learn whatever it is He has for me, knowing the whole time that His ways are much higher. I do not set myself up as god over my life ~ what a failure that would be. I choose to trust the Lord with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding and follow Him. I do not know the future for our family or where He is leading just yet, but... I know who holds the future and I trust Him... not seeing His plan but trusting His guidance. As Women Finding Grace ~ Let's take our eyes off the road ahead for just a while and sit at His feet in wonder.
